We are committing 20 minutes per week to the Children of #Ukraine.
We have initiated live Story times for the children of Ukraine every week, where I will read stories in English and Ukrainian educators will read them in Ukrainian dialects.
We wish to give them an incredibly therapeutic experience. Young children have a much deeper traumatic impact in their minds during the war times. To mitigate this adversity, stories could have therapeutic /healing roles.
Anna Volokhova, leading the project, is the founder of NGO Montessori UA, which has accumulated more than 40 educators in Ukraine and has started various projects. The educators came together to translate Maria Montessori's books and provide humanitarian aid and educational materials for internally displaced children (the network of 14 shelters with more than 5000 children was established in 3 months). They successfully fundraised for internally displaced children. They created a map of the preschools and schools damaged due to the war and those still working. They established communication with the UN Educational Cluster and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
We are excited to initiate this wonderful storytelling project and hope to create change. I will have my sessions at 5 AM Sydney Time, every Saturday from coming week, which will be 8 PM Friday in Kyiv, Ukraine, on the Facebook page of Montessori Ukraine. The other sessions will be on Mondays and Wednesdays 8 PM.
